  1. King – MLK day – Monday-

Civil rights movement!

MLK drew inspiration from bible stories!

Moses, Matthew = love your enemy

*SLIDE: Compared to this “World”… The Kingdom of God is all upside down!

SLIDE:  Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

1 Sam. 17  David and Goliath: God sends out a kid.

Worship –  Older Testament

2 Chronicles 20:2-4

Some people came and told Jehoshaphat, “A vast army is coming against you from Edom, from the other side of the Dead Sea. It is already in Hazezon Tamar” Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah. The people of Judah came together to seek help from the Lord; indeed, they came from every town in Judah to seek him.

SLIDE:   Jehoshaphat –  Worship

2 Chronicles 2:21-22 After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying:  “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.”  22 As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.

The enemy kills themselves

2 Chronicles 20: 25-26  There was so much plunder that it took three days to collect it. 26 On the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berakah, where they praised the Lord.

Worship went out front into BATTLE

-GOD   My thoughts, My ways

*SLIDE:  Satan Tempts Jesus

Matthew 4:8-9 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.  “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

He would give it ALL!  Just to be worshiped.

The chipendale table = How much will he pay?

Newer Testament

SLIDE:  For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.   But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.   -1 Corinthians 1:25 & :27

SLIDE:  But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 For when I am weak, then I am strong. – 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

*SLIDE: Compared to this “World”… The Kingdom of God is all upside down!

Jesus’ kingdom upside down.

Inverted from what I would think

“the WORLD” – biblically

SLIDE:    All CREATION GROANS

Romans 8:22-25  We know that the whole creation has been GROANING as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, GROAN inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24For in this HOPE we were saved. But HOPE that is seen is no HOPE at all. Who HOPES for what they already have? 25 But if we HOPE for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

GROANS = Republicans and democrats

The fall –  Adam and Eve

satan tempted them

GROANING –  HOPE!

*SLIDE:  WORSHIP is when HOPE rises above the groaning!

My redeemer lives!

My savior lives!

I have a HOPE that will NOT be disappointed

this world is NOT all that there is!

*SLIDE:  We live in a broken world

Chaos and dysfunction

* SLIDE:  SOUL CARE! Monday & Wednesday!

SLIDE:  “For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen.”  —2 Corinthians 4:17-18  Pg.937

Affliction (2347) (thlipsis to crush, press together, squash, hem in, compress, squeeze in turn derived from thláo = to break) originally expressed sheer, physical pressure on a man.  real hardships.

Weight ( (baros) (noun) means heaviness, weight (a heavy weight), burden, trouble, load. It describes that which presses on a person physically.

GLORY: Hebrew kabod  “weight” or “heaviness.”

ANOTHER WORSHIP THOUGHT!

SLIDE:  “He has caused us to be born again to a LIVING HOPE through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.”  —1 Peter 1:3-4

SLIDE:  “Our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.”   —Philippians 3:20

We Live IN HEAVEN NOW!

SLIDE:  “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”  —Revelation 21:4

SLIDE:  Let us hold unswervingly to the HOPE we profess, for he who promised is faithful.   – Hebrews 10:23

SLIDE:  “Rejoice in HOPE, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”  —Romans 12:12

*SLIDE: Worship is… when I realize Kingdom of God is right side up and the world is upside down!

!!TEAR DOWN HELP!!
