SLIDE:  Covered: Face to Face with God

Many of us have a story… maybe our family does.

Some positive some not…

MOSES  Israel  Exodus  Egypt  promised land

Israel is “covered” by God

Exodus 12:12-13

“On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.

SLIDE: As the Israelites respond to God’s command they are covered from judgement by the blood of the lamb.

A meal to remember this! Passover

Moses their leader is covered too…

Moses asks to see God’s face

Passion to see God!

Exodus 33:20

18 Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”

19 And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.”

21 Then the Lord said, “There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. 22 When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen.”

God “covers Moses” with his own hand.

Moses has a passion to see God!

SLIDE: God covers Moses and protects him from himself!

Moses never gets to see God face to face

Moses never enters into the promised land!

Joshua does.  (the Lord saves)

REMEMBER…. EXODUS is the main event.

PASSOVER IS THE MAIN EVENT of the Exodus!

A MEAL to remember. God commands this.

The Exodus: know 2 things!

  1. Moses never enters the promised land Joshua leads Israel in.
  2. Passover is the main event and God commands a meal to remember it.

NEW TESTAMENT

SLIDE:  Luke 22:19-20

19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

SLIDE: Jesus is now the center of Passover meal and his sacrifice is what covers you and me.

This disciples now see God face to face through Jesus.

SLIDE: They will live and he will die!

SLIDE:  FEET to YOUR FAITH

SLIDE:   “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

-Jesus Christ John 6:29

Communion – The Lord’s Supper

SLIDE:  Revelation 22:4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.

Moses could not enter in! Joshua was the one he had to do that.

Joshua, Yeshua, Jesus… what Moses could not do Jesus did!

He lead the way and brought us with him by sacrificing himself for us.
