The most told story of any people

3,500 years 1,500 Moses – Jesus.  2,000 Jesus to today

SLIDE: MOSES

Israel in bondage and slavery to Egypt

Moses’ parents keep him alive

Mother is his wet nurse and raises him.

Kills and Egyptian – Runs for his life

Burning bush

Plagues – God’s of Egypt 10

The last is the worst! The firstborn son

Exodus 11:4-5 God’s Judgement against Egypt

SLIDE: Exodus 11:4-5 So Moses said, “This is what the Lord says: ‘About midnight I will go throughout Egypt. Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the female slave, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well.

SLIDE: Exodus 11:6-7 There will be loud wailing throughout Egypt—worse than there has ever been or ever will be again. But among the Israelites not a dog will bark at any person or animal.’ Then you will know that the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.

TOTAL PEACE

SLIDE: A Passover Meal Exodus 12:1-11

Unblemished lamb, Unleavened Bread

UNLEAVENED Bread with no yeast or leaven = sin

SLIDE: Exodus 12:21-23. (large screens)

Then Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Go at once and select the animals for your families and slaughter the Passover lamb. 22 Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. None of you shall go out of the door of your house until morning. 23 When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down.

SLIDE: Exodus 12:24-27 BIG SCREEN. (large screens)

“Obey these instructions as a lasting ordinance for you and your descendants25 When you enter the land that the Lord will give you as he promised, observe this ceremony. 26 And when your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ 27 then tell them, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.’” Then the people bowed down and worshiped.

SLIDE: Leviticus 17:11 For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.

SLIDE: The first Passover meal is eaten as a reminder of what God has done and in anticipation of what He will do.

free from the bondage of slavery

Promised Land

Jesus – Last Supper –  Matthew 26, Mark 14, Luke 22

SLIDE: 1 Cor. 11:23-28 Apostle Paul. (Large screens)

23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

——–

27 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.

SLIDE: For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

SLIDE: The first Passover/Communion meal is eaten as a reminder of what God has done through Christ and also in anticipation of what He will do.
