Polar bears are the only truly carnivorous bears, all other types eat both plants and animals (in other words, they are not seeking to attack you!). In addition the only polar bear populations in the United States live in the outer-reaches of Alaska, and since 1968 there have only been 9 fatal polar bear attacks in the US, 4 of them were a result of humans climbing into zoo enclosures.
